About AvAtor Hughes

In an industry overcrowded with mediocre talent masked by impressive marketing, a new artist is emerging out of Cincinnati, OH determined to contest and bring a fresh breath of new musical air to the world.

Born Jesse Toy, he always knew that he wanted to pursue a life of music like many that had come before him. Heavily influenced by musicians such as Anita Baker, The Isley Brothers, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, John Legend and many others, the Ohio native studied his craft for years while pursing his education eventually blossoming into a formidable lyricist in late 2008.

Looking for a new moniker that screamed fresh and different, he took on the stage name AvAtor Hughes (pronounced Aviator) paying homage to the Martin Scorsese film “The Aviator” about the life of Howard Hughes. Being that Ohio is first in flight, his new name reflected his hustle to the top while shining the spotlight on Ohio and its history of legends in the music industry.

Feeling that over the years the qualities he loved in hip hop seemed to disappear as the industry became more commercialized, AvAtor Hughes set out on a quest to provide the world with a new sound and ultimately remind hip hop fans the origin of hip hop. Possessing a witty, charismatic and lyrical flow, AvAtor Hughes presents music lovers with something new, original and most importantly Ohio bred.

However lyricism is not the end all be all for AvAtor Hughes. Blessed with an uncanny gift for song writing, AvAtor Hughes has an edge for producing vibrant and catchy R&B, Pop and alternative hooks. Building a brand isn’t easy and Hughes makes a continuous effort to market

and promotes his many talents across the country. Appearing as the breakout emcee in the 1st Annual Cincinnati Cypher which recently has caught the attention of 2dopeboyz.com, he amazed countless people with his talents. Also shocking judges at the 2010 B.M.I. sponsored New England Music (N.E.M.S) Seminar further centering himself as one of the biggest up and coming names out of the Midwest.

With the release of his first mixtape, Shut Up and Listen Flight Tape, in February 2010 and the stellar 2011 EP Parachute Pack FLYte 101, AvAtor Hughes has gained a significant internet buzz with features on The FreshXpress.com, Ohio Hip Hop Awards blog, and Nino’s Corner among others.

As he matures in his lyrical flow, AvAtor Hughes continues to place his imprint in the game with the official launch of The Terminal, an entertainment and lifestyle blog in late 2010. Without a doubt, Hughes possesses the brand, mentality, and drive of an emcee that is reaching for the clouds with aspirations of passing them and being a star.

“Ohio always had a different sound. It’s only right that I carry the torch and bring our light to the forefront. All I want is for people to listen to me. I’m a person with something to say that is relevant to many people and I express it through my music. If I can just be heard, I know that I can be a worldwide house hold name for years to come.”
